Wedding DIY

Gold spray paint can turn even the most simple of glass containers into beautiful and classic wedding decor.

We turned this recycled bottle into an elegant vase that was both economical and environmentally friendly. Placing the clean and dry bottles upside down, (over pieces of cardboard to protect the floor), spray the bottles with two coats of spray paint. We used a matte gold but feel free to experiment with a variety of colours and finishes. In order to prevent bubbles and drips, spray from the top-down at a downward angle allowing excess paint to drip downwards off the bottle. While it can be time consuming, it is important to allow the paint to dry between coats to prevent bubbles.

As for the chic candle holders, all that was needed was a bit of tape and string to create stripes that allow for an ambient, candlelit glow. Before following the same steps as the vases, wrap tape or string around the glasses to create stripes of varying widths and patterns. The key is to wait for the paint to fully dry before carefully peeling off the tape or string.

We used gold spray paint but this versatile DIY works with any colour or combination of colours. This DIY isn’t limited to wedding decor either, try different colours and containers to create vases and candleholders for all sorts of events and home decor.
