Concert explores baroque using period instruments
The Factory Arts Ensemble will perform on period instruments for INNERchamber’s next concert, “Baroque Travels”, on Nov. 27.
Borys Medicky on harpsichord, Heather Carruthers on baroque bassoon and Julie Baumgartel and Andrew Chung on baroque violin will explore music from across the 17th and 18th centuries. The intent is to use historically informed performance practices along with baroque instruments to more accurately reflect the way baroque music was originally meant to be performed.
Pieces by Bach, Corelli and Purcell as well as those who provided inspiration to their better-known colleagues, Leclair, Couperin, Fontana and Oswald will be featured.
To match the music from the four countries that will be represented, the County Food Co. will be serving tastes from Italy, England, Germany and France. Dinner is included in the ticket price for all advance-purchased tickets only. Food is served from 6 p.m., followed by the concert at 6:45 p.m.
Advance tickets cost $39 or $25 for students and must be booked by the end of Nov. 25 for for catering purposes. Tickets are available at www.inner-chamber.caor in person at Anything Grows and Fanfare Books. Concert-only tickets are available on Nov. 27 from 6:30 pm for the same prices.
