A psychedelic time

The floor was rockin’ and the lounge was groovin’ at PROPSTOCK. Off The Wall organizers are very pleased with this, our second annual summer solstice fundraising event.

It was a great party with Hippie Van photo ops thanks to Kevin Kemp, a Hookah Lounge sponsored by Smoke Stack, a projection of the original Woodstock documentary on a very large screen courtesy of Brenda Martin, fabulous dancing music by DJ Wigs, great food by Meme’s Cafe, and “Stratford Festival Wine” by Pelee Island Winery. Congratulations to Audrey Marriott of The Wardrobe, who looked like Janis Joplin (on a good day), for winning the best costume prize, donated by Chateau des Charmes.

And thanks especially to Irene Miller for the wall of photos of the event committee taken in the 1970s.  Factory163 was transformed into a psychedelic dance hall – designed by Clinton Hughes Interior Design – with terrific bartending by Dan Erdelt and Maryanne Cox. Many thanks to Peggy Coffey for selling 50/50 tickets, and to the winner, Frank Holte, who donated his earnings back to Off The Wall.

We also want to thank Technical Training Group for their support of this event.

Many many thanks to the 100 or so people who bought tickets and bid on the unique and unusual silent auction items. We raised over $5,000 for Off The Wall’s summer courses in theatre production arts, which will allow us to provide tuition assistance to students in our community. The courses, which have attracted students from California, Illinois, Montréal and throughout Southwestern Ontario, still have room for a few more applicants.
